From time to time I like to post about things that go on at the NCC. Specifically, when special events occur- both personal and community wise- that give me a push in the right direction.

Saw the insurance adjuster today (or he came to see me, I guess would be more accurate).

Downside: My whooole effin' bumper needs replaced. I guess there were cracks in it that can't be repaired. When I first saw them. I just thought they were scratches. He said just that could be $200-$300. Also said my quarter panel may have smooshed a bit because there's a gap under between it and the tail light. There's a chip in the paint right at the corner and he's concerned about rust.

Upside: He said that I pretty much hit the best area to hit. The damage is on a hollow side of the bumper, so it's unlikely there's any damage under it that would need repaired. He also said it was a simple repair (as opposed to Stef, who'll be out of a car for 4 days)

I dunno the whole cost, but I'm sure I'll be forking out the whole $500 deductible I have. I'll be getting his estimate in the mail.

Ah well. Coulda been worse, that's for sure. While I'm a little worried about the money, at least it's not as bad as it could be.

MY ROSE BLOOMED

BOOYAH

Early morning:

HELLO )

Late morning:

OMG )

It's absolutely gorgeous. I love fiery orange.

Bonus dogs:

SQUIRRELS AND THE STINK EYE )

My shower is currently lined with vinegar-soaked paper towels and the kitchen is clean. Tomorrow I have to blanch my beans and freeze them. I... have no idea what I'm doing.

I will very shortly have to tell you guys about that thing, which is built up beyond stupidity now, at least to [info]pfsheckarski's mind, and my own. It's nothing. But something. I DONT EVEN KNOW OK

My flist is having a bad time lately. I will give it songs to soothe it, until such a time as that black hole in my bathtub finally gets off it's ass and performs so we can all escape into the Res-O-Verse. I KNOW YOU'RE JUST SMOKING POT AND EMITTING RADIATION IN THERE, GET A JOB YOU BUM

Florence + the Machine - Howl
[ the fabric of your flesh, pure as a wedding dress / until i wrap myself inside your arms i cannot rest / the saints can't help me now, the ropes have been unbound / i hunt for you with bloodied feet across the hallow'd ground ]

Hungry Lucy - The Chase (F9 mix)
[ thin and withered / red dress turned to pink / thought i heard her laughing / in books of blue-black ink ]

Lamb - Stronger
[ i'm so afraid / something is broken now / too much has been said / to wipe it clean somehow / without this love / where will i be? ]

<3

Still haven't NaNo'd today. Am bad.

The empire strikes back

In recent weeks, we've taken huge steps towards blocking spam accounts on LiveJournal. In fact, we've suspended as many as 30,000 accounts in a single day! We've implemented several pre-emptive measures to prevent the creation of spam accounts, and we've honed our detection of suspicious content. Spam bots are a crafty lot, so we'll continue to refine our tactics and keep up the good fight to keep you safe from spam attacks on LiveJournal.

RSS feeds again

If you're addicted to [info]xkcd_rss, [info]icanhaschzbrgr, or other syndicated feeds, we're pleased to report that we've resolved the update error that was mucking up your RSS feeds. While content was being pulled correctly, it wasn't being posted to the feeds themselves. Late last week, we finally nailed down what we hope was the root problem, so content should post properly. We thank you for your patience.

Enveloped in postcards

Last week, we asked you to send in postcards to help us decorate our drab concrete walls. Here's a photo of the results so far! Thank you so much and please keep them coming! You can mail them to Frank the Goat, Esq., c/o LiveJournal, Inc., 539 Bryant Street, Suite 210, San Francisco, CA 94107. "Oh, no, Ms. McClelland, you won't need to see the adjustor at all! He can just come and take a look and he'll send you a check if needed!"

My ass. Finally spoke with the guy and I have NO idea what time he's coming around but I had to give him elaborate instructions on how to get ahold of me at work whenever he arrives. I should just fucking call off.

If I worked longer than a 6 hour day at any point this week, I would. But I haven't worked a day past 2PM.

I hope he's not aggravated all to hell because of what he has to go through to reach me by the time I get to him.

...my NaNo is going amazing. It's like it's already written, out there in the universe, and I'm just transcribing it right now. That may change when I hit the 20k mark, where things get fuzzy for the next ten thousand words, but for now, I know what I want to write and it's coming to me.

Ammy report, since you are all dying to know: IN A SHOCKING TWIST )

...

I think I might try to learn to knit while watching Supernatural. Fandom Secrets has hounded me long enough.

...

My rose has still not bloomed. It looks like it's thinking about it, though. The petals have begun to unfurl and if you stick your nose right over it you can smell it. And it smells gooooooooooooooooooooooood.

I was in one train, sitting down, when this short, chubby lady from the train across scurried out of that train to try and get into the train I was in. She nearly made it when the doors slammed in her face. She stood there for a second hoping maybe the conductor saw her and would open the door for her. Nope!

She turned back and hurried across the platform for the train she abandoned, but she made it a little to half way before their doors also slammed shut. She looked back and forth between the two trains, in confusion, panic and then defeat as they both moved away from the station.

I laughed out loud and people looked.
